Sherman Hills Veterinary Hospital is a well established, privately owned and family run veterinary practice in Woodbury, CT.  As a team, we work hard to provide the highest levels of service for our clients and the best quality care for our patients.  We are very excited to announce that we’re now hiring IMMEDIATELY for a number of roles in our office:

    •    VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

The positions currently open are part time (15-30 hours/week) with a rotating weekend schedule.  All employees are expected to work some weekends each month.

All positions report to the office manager & Dr. Nashe and are based in Woodbury, CT. The right candidates for each position will be rewarded with competitive benefits & compensation commensurate with experience (including significant veterinary care discounts). KENNEL ASSISTANT 

 

We take pride in the care that we give to the pets that stay with us and we do everything in their power to make our patient's stay safe and comfortable.  Our Kennel Assistants are the heart and soul of our daycare and boarding services, our convalescing animal services, and the upkeep of the hospital as a whole. 

 

Hours Needed:  Part-Time (15-30 hours/week) including some holidays and weekends

 

Main responsibilities of the Kennel Assistant position include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide food, water, medication (as scheduled), & clean bedding for all hospitalized and boarding animals 

  • Clean & disinfect all parts of the hospital from the kennel and litter boxes to the waiting area and front desk

  • Launder all kennel bedding, hospital towels, and other laundry

  • Walk all dogs and observes/plays with all boarding/daycare dogs while in play time

  • Perform Doggie Daycare duties including caring for & playing with each dog

  • Observe all hospitalized and boarding animals individually, noting normal and abnormal activities or body functions

  • Provide basic bathing and grooming as needed

  • Report all abnormal animal activity to supervisors, doctors and techs

  • Recognize emergency situations, enlisting the aid of doctors and techs as needed

  • Maintain all hospital equipment & sterilize surgical instruments

  • Assist with lab work when needed

  • Restrain or lifts animals as needed     

 

Required Abilities:

  • Lift 50+ pounds and squat/bend with no restrictions

  • Work indoors and outside year-round​

Kennel Assistant

Veterinary Technician
RECEPTIONIST / FRONT DESK ASSOCIATE 

 

Working at Sherman Hill Animal Hospital's front desk means you are public face of our business.  Our front desk desk staff is our client's first contact when calling or visiting the practice and as such represents the professional image of the practice to callers and visitors.  Can you foster client bonding while also diffuse a negative client situation if needed?  Ideally, we are looking for someone with experience working in a veterinary hospital setting, though we will gladly train the right candidate.  

 

Hours:  Part-Time (15-30 hours/week) including some weekends

 

Essential Aspects the Receptionist/Front Desk Associate position include (but are not limited to):

  • Answering phones and handling a multi-line phone system

  • Greeting clients and patients

  • Admissions (Include noting intake information & preparation of patient file)

  • Scheduling of appointments, surgeries, boarding/daycare, etc.  

  • Answer basic client questions regarding animal care/treatment (while recognizing when to escalate to a vet tech or veterinarian)

  • Discharges (including review of medications and relay of proper care guidelines to be followed at home)

  • Basic office duties

  • Calculate invoices and receive/apply client payments

  • Light cleaning & support of other hospital staff

  • Update and maintain the client data in the client management software

  • Update and maintain patient records, both electronic and paper

  • Support the office manager as needed

  • Receive, relay, and return client correspondence 

  • Maintain inventory of technical & medical supplies, medications, and all other needed supplies

  • Support & assist the veterinarian during exams/procedures/consultations by being proactive, alert, & responsive

  • Adhere to hospital practices, procedures, and protocols 

  • Updating and checking accuracy and completeness of patient files (both electronic and paper)

 

The position at the Front Desk requires the following personality traits/abilities: 

  • Multi-tasker with an ability to think ahead 

  • Quick learner and active listener

  • Friendly, outgoing, and personable

  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal (especially via phone) 

  • Computer savvy 

  • Veterinary office experience and/or a college degree are both preferred but not required

Front Desk
VETERINARIAN (FULL or PART TIME)

 

We are in search of a Full Time or Part Time Veterinarian to join our team. Sherman Hill Animal Hospital is a privately owned, family run, well-established practice in southwestern Connecticut. We offer our patients comprehensive general medicine, surgical and dental care, ultrasound as well as digital radiography. We pride ourselves in cultivating long-term relationships with our patients and staff and our staff is dedicated to providing the best medical and surgical care to our patients.  Our clients come from near and far and are mostly referred by word of mouth, so we are looking for someone very special to support the owner (the main veterinarian) and fill his shoes when not in the office. We know that the veterinarian sets the tone and is the backbone of any practice and therefore, its important for us to find the right fit!

 

Our ideal candidate will have: 

  • 2+ years of experience, but a strong new (or recent) graduate will be considered as well

  • Internship or residency training, a plus

  • Proficiency with surgeries and dentistries 

  • Excellent communication skills 

  • The ability to handle a busy patient load yet maintain a positive attitude

  • The ability to work independently *as well as* collaboratively with other veterinarians and support staff

  • Active Connecticut Veterinary License
