George B. Nashe, DVM

George Nashe has been a veterinarian for more than thirty years.  He has been the owner of Sherman Hill Animal Hospital, in Woodbury, CT since 2007. The hospital was originally established in 1972 and through the years, has grown from a small business to a hospital that is quickly becoming known as one of the best in northwestern Connecticut.

Dr. Nashe attended the Herbert Lehman College in Bronx, NY before being accepted into veterinary college at Cornell University.  He received a Bachelors Degree in Biology from Lehman and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Cornell.  After receiving his DVM, he worked at County Animal Clinic in Yonkers, NY under Board Certified Internists and Orthopedic & Soft Tissue Surgeons.

He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association, New York Veterinary Medical Association, and Florida Veterinary Medical Association.

Prior to his purchase of Sherman Hill Animal Hospital, Dr. Nashe owned & operated Litchfield Hills Veterinary Hospital in Harwinton, CT.  He and his late wife built this practice from the ground up and began with a dream to provide veterinary services in a small town, a map of Northwestern CT, and the telephone book (their very first prospective client list)!  They purchased a run-down colonial house along Route 118, and with a lot of help from family and friends, years of patience, and many, many late-night emergencies, turned it all into a beautiful home & successful business.

Twenty-five years later, Dr. Nashe decided it was time to retire from this now thriving animal care business and spend more time with his family.

After only a short period of time, Dr. Nashe realized that he missed the art and science and daily activity of the veterinary hospital.  He missed the challenge of that special diagnosis of some disease that he had never seen before.  He missed his clients and missed their furry family members that had become part of his own extended family.  He and his family missed the close contact with the patients that they enjoyed in the past. So, after much consideration and soul searching, Dr. Nashe and his wife decided to take the plunge again!  It was then that they decided on Sherman Hill Animal Hospital.

They chose the hospital and the location for all the same reasons that they had loved the other practice.  Wonderful clients, excellent location, and most importantly, a new hospital to make their own!

Dr. Nashe married his wife Zheni in 1996. They have three children, Georgette, Sofia and Gregory.  His oldest daughter, Alison and her husband Karl are enjoying life in Northern California with their two children, two dogs & three cats, Rosie, Nenny, & Trouble.  Dr. Nashe’s current furry family includes a Great Dane named Luna and a cat named Rascal.

Dr. Nashe has been an active member of the Harwinton Board of Finance for over 17 years.  He and his family are active members of the Albanian-American community and he served for many years on the Advisory Board of the National Albanian American Council.  He has also  served on the Board of Trustees for the Hands of Hope Campaign (to benefit the children in the Balkans).

When not working, Dr. Nashe and his family enjoy vacationing in the warmer climates.  In his spare time, he enjoys maintaining his sheep herd and his property in Harwinton.
